Tracey Livesay writes swoon-worthy contemporary romances where Black women are centered, celebrated, and loved out loud.
An award-winning author and former criminal defense attorney, Tracey creates unforgettable stories filled with powerful heroines, complex emotional journeys, and deliciously devoted love interests—usually of the irresistibly brilliant, brooding, or billionaire variety.
Whether it’s a steamy friends-to-lovers story, a royal romance, or a luxury getaway novel inspired by her own travels, Tracey’s books always carry this truth:

A proud champion of interracial love, Tracey is best known for her American Royalty series, inspired by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle… if Meghan were more like Megan Thee Stallion. Bold, sensual, and deeply emotional, her stories reflect the real-life love she shares with her husband—whom she met on her very first day of law school.
She’s the 2021 Emma Award winner for Best Interracial Romance (Like Lovers Do), which was also named one of Kirkus Reviews’ Best Fiction Books of 2020. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, USA Today, and Entertainment Weekly, and she was named one of USA Today’s “100 Black Novelists You Should Read.”
To date, she’s published 9 novels, multiple novellas, and continues to build a body of work that centers romance, ambition, and intimacy for Black women.
Before writing full-time, Tracey worked as a criminal defense attorney, advocating for those whose stories often went unheard. Today, she’s still doing the same thing—but with a different kind of justice: making sure Black women see themselves as fully lovable, deeply desirable, and always worthy of a happily ever after.
Tracey doesn’t just write about love, luxury, and travel—she lives it.
She’s a globe-trotter who takes her audience behind the scenes as she writes romance on location (St. Thomas, London, Paris…). Whether she’s zip lining in the Caribbean or reacting to the latest reality dating show, Tracey brings romance author energy to real life.
She lives in Virginia with her real-life hero and their three children. Her current obsessions: luxury handbags, skincare, reality TV, romantic novels and movies, paper planners, and Meghan Markle.
